Distillerie Fée Vallonne

Crafted by master distiller Alain Rey, whose dedication to authentic absinthe-making spans decades. Every bottle reflects his deep respect for traditional Swiss distillation methods and premium botanicals sourced from the Val-de-Travers region.

Our Story

For Alain Rey, absinthe is first and foremost a family inheritance. Through his marriage into a lineage of clandestine distillers, he gradually entered a world shaped by discretion and endurance. His father-in-law, Roland Jeanjaquet, a respected specialist of the “Bleue”, transmitted to him the essential gestures, carefully guarded recipes, and a profound understanding of balance, including that of the Fée Vallonne.

With legalization, Alain’s commitment extended beyond his own distillery. In 2005, he participated in the founding of the cooperative Les Artisans de l’Absinthe, created to defend and promote the renewed legitimacy of the Green Fairy.

From the still of his father-in-law to his own workshop, Alain continues this lineage with conviction, welcoming visitors and sharing a tradition shaped by loyalty and experience.

Our Story

Savoir-faire

Alain Rey distills according to traditional methods, privileging small copper stills, some fashioned by his own hands, and working over a direct flame to allow the steam to draw out the full aromatic expression of each plant.

His absinthes are built upon a precise composition of around ten botanicals, with Grande Wormwood from Val-de-Travers at their heart. Each element is measured with care, seeking clarity, depth, and authenticity rather than ornament.

Faithful to the spirit of past decades, Alain legally reproduces absinthes inspired in particular by 1960s recipes, preserving their structure and character without compromise. Today, he presents three distinct expressions: each a reflection of transmitted knowledge, patient craftsmanship, and enduring attachment to heritage.
