Maison de l'Absinthe

In the heart of Val-de-Travers, the historical birthplace of absinthe, stands a building that now safeguards the memory of the Green Fairy. Housed in the former District Court of Môtiers, once home to judges, police offices and the nightmare of many a clandestin distiller, the Maison de l'Absinthe embodies a powerful transformation: from a place of judgment to a place of celebration.

Savoir-faire

Today, the Maison de l'Absinthe is the modern interpretation centre dedicated to the history, myths and revival of Switzerland's most emblematic spirit. The permanent exhibition guides visitors through the Belle Époque, the years of prohibition and clandestine distillation, and the contemporary renaissance of absinthe. A botanical garden, laboratory space and tasting bar complete the experience.
